Hello Barker Families!
| Thank you for an amazing week! I am so enjoying getting to know you and your children! At Barker Elementary, we want every Lion and cub to be able to learn, play, move, and participate safely throughout the school day. Because elementary students are active during recess, PE, classroom activities, assemblies, and transitions around campus, clothing, shoes, and accessories should allow them to move safely and comfortably. The following are just a few areas we could use your help in: 👟 Shoes Made for Playing Students should wear secure, closed-toe or athletic-style shoes that allow them to run, jump, climb, and play safely. Crocs and similar loose-fitting shoes are not appropriate for active play at school. Although Crocs may be comfortable for casual wear, they can slip off while students are running, making it more difficult to move quickly and securely, and may increase the chance of tripping or falling during recess, PE, or other physical activities. Clothing Please choose shirts and dresses with straps that provide appropriate coverage and stay securely in place during movement (please no spaghetti-straps). Spaghetti straps can shift or fall during active play, PE, sitting on the carpet, bending, stretching, and other school activities. Wider straps and secure-fitting tops help students remain comfortable, covered, and focused on learning and play throughout the day. Please choose clothing that covers the midriff. Earrings
